Still spewing. HAHA.

day 5 (afternoon)

i cheated and ate some lettuce and cabbage.

day 5 (afternoon)

I weighed myself in the morning, but didn't post.

Lot of skepticism from my friends about this. I still think it works (the cleansing part).

day 4 (evening)

Actually, it's 2am. I'm not even tired. Strange.

I didn't even finish the lemonade today; I probably left like 3 cups of it in the bottle. I tried to force myself to finish it, but I didn't want to.

Stuff is still "coming out" after not consuming any food for 4 days. Incredible!

cravings: ho bbang (sort of like a pancake-type thing with maple syrup-type stuff inside), pizza

day 4(afternoon)

I didn't have time to drink the laxative tea this morning. I'm just going to get some boiling water from the school cafeteria later this afternoon. I've been making my lemonade at night so it's ready to go in the morning; I carry around my nalgene bottle and just pour it so I can use throughout the day. I kept the gallon jug in the car; it's a bit warm in Chicago today, so I might mix in some ice for my next few servings.

I'm not going to ever do the salt water flush; I read a ton of bad things about it. It dehydrates you and although the flush is effective, it's not worth it. You can accomplish the same with the laxative tea (and it's not as bad for you.. and tastes a thousand times better).

My body might be adjusting or something; In the mornings and afternoons, I'm not hungry at all. I'm actually starting to enjoy this feeling of 'hunger' now. I forgot to write yesterday that I had a craving for pork.. like pork tenderloin or something. My tongue's still white.. I think I have to wait for that go away before I go further.

I don't get really hungry until night time, which is a reason I want to fall asleep earlier now. I'm going to resist any desires for a nap so that I can sleep before my hunger-time begins. Yesterday at about 12am (technically today?), I truly debated whether or not I wanted to go on. But If I'm on day 4 now, I'm more than halfway done (I'm gunning for 7 days, which is recommended for first-time lemonade-detox-diet-doers (or FT LDDD's for short). But fear not, I had a renewed desire to keep going this morning. Besides, I think the toughest days are behind me.

I'm going to do some light lifting tonight and going to try running tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I can get to sleep right after the MNF game tonight (I hope the Packers get shellacked).

One more thing: Cheats. I vicariously searched online for possible cheats to this diet and I read a variety of different answers. It seems that if you want the OPTIMAL results and get as much of the waste/toxins from your body out as possible, you should eat absolutely nothing except the lemonade and tea. But I read that if you have a dire need for food, some fresh fruits or veggies are okay. I think I'll try to get the optimal results, though.

I read about some post-diet items as well; you should "ease out" of the diet, as shown here. You don't want to dive right into solid foods. You want to gradually get back to it; day1: orange juice, day2: other fruit/veggie juices, day3: fruits/veggies, day4: regular foods/ live foods like grains recommended. Apparently, I was supposed to "ease in" to the diet as well (a reverse of the ease out), but I ate some ballpark food at Wrigley. Oh well.

cravings: pork tenderloin, peaches, fried egg

day 4 (morning)

So, I had a dream that I was in the kitchen with my family and they were all eating food while I drank my lemonade. I couldn't do it any longer and I snuck a few bites of some turkey sandwich or something. My desire for food is even infiltrating my dreams? Pretty sad.

day 3(evening)

There were a lot of people eating a lot of good food around me today, as I was at church (people eating lunch, snacks, etc). The smell of food affects me, although I wasn't really hungry. If I stay busy doing something, I don't really feel the hunger. As I said earlier, I help out at church as a teacher/counselor, but I also help with multimedia things at church; this keeps me pretty busy.

Due to it being a busier day, I didn't have my first sip of my lemonade until about 3pm. I started to crave the drink; kind of weird, I know. I only brought a Nalgene bottle worth with me to church and I didn't end up finishing that until I was driving home. So, this led to a lot leftover that I had to finish while watching sunday night football. steelers and bears both lost; kinda sucks.

As for the hunger, it's not so bad unless I see or smell something; I really want to eat normal food again. I think I'll definitely eat healthier just so I don't have to go through such bothersome diets again.

My tongue's white.

day 2 (evening)

I am craving some freshly baked french bread with some butter spread... really bad. I think I'll also add the random cravings I might get at the end of each post, too. Might be kind of funny.

My bathroom visits are starting to get like the 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper going into the lemonade... spicy.

I still feel a bit of hunger, but a gulp of the lemonade solves that for a bit. I think I got ahead of myself today and drank too much of the lemonade too early. It's not even 5pm and I'm running a bit low. The drink really is starting to taste good, though. I swear it! I even wonder if I'll have a craving to drink this after my diet is over.. just for taste...

day 2 (morning)

I feel fine. Not even hungry. Had a rough night, though (went twice). Woke up around 1015am (I usually don't sleep that much).
Going to drink tea this morning; screw the salt water flush.

day 1 (evening)

I probably won't post several times like this everyday.

I didn't really have much 'flush'-ing today (haha).

The drink is not as bad as it seems. Most people think it's disgusting, especially upon smelling it. I'm used to the kick from the cayenne now. I thought I'd get 'hungry' later in the day, so I saved a lot til the end of the day. I really like the maple syrup in it though.

Surprisingly, I'm not that hungry. I am, however, very tired. I never take naps unless there was some preceding event which completely drains me or if I don't get much sleep over a day or two. I'm going to knock out right after i wait for my laxative tea to cool down and I drink it.

day 1 (afternoon)

So far, everything is okay. I woke up pretty early and am usually hungry by now; I think the salt water is there to ruin your appetite; either way, I think I'll go the "tea in the morning and tea in the evening" route rather than chug that nasty salt water.

Below are some pictures of the 'lemonade.' That's Zambrano in the background. You can see the specks of pepper; you can taste it, too. The cayenne pepper is hot! But it tastes okay; sweet, then the kick. People are going to think I'm insane carrying this huge thing around so I'll probably allocate it into a nalgene bottle or two and drink that throughout the day.

I drew a line on the bottle so I know where to fill up the bottle for ten cups instead of having to measure every time for the next 9 days. You should, too... unless you have a measuring cup pre-set to 10 cups; but you'd still have to pour it into the first container and then pour it back into your lemonade bottle.

By the way, the Grade B Organic Maple Syrup is really liquidy; unlike thick, syrupy maple syrup we're accustomed to. Probably makes it easier to blend.

day 1 (morning)

Just woke up. I drank the laxative tea last night and so far, my "bathroom visit" was relatively normal. The tea is pretty good (Traditional Medicinals brand) and I had it last night. I made the quart of water to 2 tsp salt mix and it was nasty. I made a little more than a quart, but I only finished 3/4 of the mix as I felt like I was going to throw up. Seems similar to Erich's reaction

In any case, today is day 1 and we'll see how it goes. I play COD4 (but my xbox360's in the shop at the moment), so (in british accent) "Let's do this!"

day -1 (negative 1)

My name is Richard and I am a 24 year old student and I also volunteer as a counselor/teacher. This is the start of my 2 week journal of my process through the Lemonade Diet. This is primarily for myself, but also for anyone else interested in reading.

Through some years of college (unhealthy eating for sure) and working at an office (not very physically intensive) for a couple years, I've put on quite a few pounds. I guess you can say I have a naturally larger frame and have always been bigger, but never grossly overweight. I was very active with sports and working out in high school, but not so much anymore.

A week ago, I read a comment on facebook from a friend about a 'lemonade diet'; it seemed interesting enough, so I looked it up. From there, I researched on it and read the journal by this guy. For days, I contemplated whether or not to put myself through it and decided I'd do the diet to see how it was. Tomorrow will be the first full day of it, but I'll be following the steps from the link above and in similar fashion to the aforementioned blogger.

For those of you unfamiliar with the diet, you basically drink water with lemon, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper (1 gallon/day) for 10 days. Nothing else. It cleans out your system from all the bits of filth you ate during life and meanwhile, you lose weight (because you eat nothing else). I guess I'm doing it for both reasons.

Here are pictures of items I purchased (and have lying around) to prepare for this:
Everything but the lemons are from Whole Foods; the lemons are from Costco. It's probably a better idea to go organic with this. The kosher salt (unionized salt)and water in the morning 'flushes' the sytem in the morning and that box of 'Organic Smooth Move' is some Laxative Tea for the evenings.

I'll post this at the end of each entry as well:
